Frequently Asked Questions
We know how overwhelming choosing a home care provider can be. To be comfortable with your options, it is important to find answers to all your questions. These are a few of the questions that we hear from potential clients and their families often. If your questions aren't fully answered here, please feel free to contact Nurses Unlimited. We'll be happy to talk to you about all our home care options.
What services do you provide?
We provide in-home private duty care services, such as companionship, light housekeeping, bathing and grooming assistance, medication reminders etc. We are also certified to provide skilled nursing care, which includes I.V. therapy, wound care, occupational and physical therapy, and more. We also have durable medical equipment and home modification divisions to further assist our clients.
What is Skilled Nursing?
Skilled Nursing is a service provided to teach/instruct family members and caregivers of a client's medical needs. Often teaching is for GT/NGT feedings and care, wound care, IV antibiotics, TPN, and many other skills. The skilled nurse will educate/demonstrate the patient's ordered care and will require the patient's caregiver to demonstrate back the proper technique of the procedure. The average number of visits approved by Medicaid and private insurance is typically 3-4 visits, depending on the procedure ordered. During the duration of the visits, a skilled nurse is available 24/7 for questions or concerns.
What is Private Duty Home Care?
"Private duty" means private pay. In other words, no government monies are used for the cost of care. The most common methods for covering the cost of private duty home care are through long-term care insurance benefits, out of pocket, or other types of savings arrangements.
Are your caregivers bonded and insured?
Yes. All caregivers are employed by Nurses Unlimited directly. To help ensure the safety and wellbeing of our clients, we perform a criminal history background clearance and then cover each caregiver with general liability and workers' compensation insurance.
What is your service area?
Nurses Unlimited serves locations throughout west and central Texas, including, but not limited to Odessa, Waco, El Paso, Amarillo, Lubbock, Irving, San Antonio, Midland, and Austin. Please see our Locations page for a full list of our service area.
